The alternator rectifier is a rectification device. It converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). DC is filtered and supplied to the load or the inverter. In addition, the alternator rectifier provides charging voltage to the battery.
Therefore, this component also plays the role of a charger. The rectifier instantly provides the electrical equipment with a strong current and stable voltage. If the ignition system works in good condition, the gasoline burns completely.

All car electrical equipment is powered by the battery and alternator. So here is a question, why does the direct current need rectifier? Let's talk about it.
The alternator is driven by the car engine. The three sets of stator coils produce AC voltage with different phases. The voltage then passes through the positive and negative bipolar rectifier crystal (rectifier grain) in the alternator. It turns into DC voltage after full-wave rectification to supply electrical equipment such as air conditioning compressor, stereo, ECU, ignition coil, fuel pump and headlights, etc.
In other words, all the electricity in the car is supplied by the alternator, while the battery is purely a storage unit that converts electrical energy into chemical energy.
Apart from power to start the engine, the battery also has a compensation function. It can be discharged at any time due to the heavy load power consumption. So the battery has a specific effect of voltage regulation and rectification.
However, the initial DC waveform still has irregular fluctuations (the so-called continuous-wave voltage). The voltage instability becomes increasingly apparent in stop-and-go driving conditions in the city.
In some cases, oxidation of the circuit system in older cars results in higher impedance. As a result, weak acceleration, unstable idling and inefficient cold air compressor drive you nuts. In addition, the variable voltage is one of the reasons for the reduced service life of electrical appliances.
Only relying on the battery's voltage regulator is not enough. The internal battery combines many positive and negative leads with electrolytes. The contact area with electrolyte is not large. The charging and discharging efficiency are naturally limited.
However, it's not worth having a DC voltage regulator. The maximum current of the car's total electricity is very large. Instead, the capacitive filtering to enhance the effectiveness of the voltage regulator rectifier (which does not have a long time to store electricity) is a simple plan B.
The internal structure of the capacitor is made of more than two layers of metal foil and dielectric combination, which leads to fast charging and discharging to make up for the lack of efficiency of a traditional battery.
However, after the engine shuts down, the alternator no longer generates electricity. The power "temporarily stored" in the capacitor will be gradually released. The capacitor can quickly make up for the power when the car load surges (turning on the air conditioner, stepping on the pedal, etc.).
When the rectifier is not installed, the current generated by the alternator directly reaches the battery. It is then consumed and produces a large load on the battery.
After the installation, the supply power works stably, and naturally, the demand power will also be stable. The electricity load improves as a matter of course.
● Improved ignition and smooth engine running
The sensing units of the crankshaft and camshaft connect to the battery. The stable current allows the optimum ignition timing, and the poor ignition can be improved.
● Fuel economy
The normal operation of the injector nozzle has an impact on the fuel economy. There is a direct correlation between both of them. The stable current makes the injector nozzle work well.
● Faster throttle response
Since the throttle signal is transmitted directly to the MPI, the throttle response can be faster when the current is stabilized. The fuel supply has become more stable than ever.
● Horsepower and torque boost
The installation of electronic alternator rectifiers does not create more horsepower and torque, but it recovers the lost part of the poor circuit system due to the perfect performance of the MPI and the accurate calculation of the ECU.
