The oxygen sensor detects the oxygen content in the cylinder exhaust gas. Generally high oxygen content means the air-fuel mixture is thin. Low oxygen content means the mixture is too rich. The oxygen sensor transmits different electrical signals to the ECU according to the oxygen content, so that the ECU can correct the mixture according to this information.
